Did you forget about me?

Ayayay! Life has been hectic. Between school, work, the gym, doing homework, grading and prepping for class, there hasn't been a whole lot of time to think or write, or do much of anything outside the schedule. It's been nice to have so much to do, but give a girl a nap or something.
My friend Heather posted this on her blog, and I decided to steal it, since high school certainly offered me some of my finer days (yeah, I realize this is the second high school post I've done. I liked it, get over it.)

1. Did you date someone from your High School? For a brief time during senior year I loved the bass player from our band at prom. We kissed. He was REALLY bad at it. I pretty much didn't have anything to do with boys until the latter half of senior year, and it kind of turned me into a college slut. I probably should have kissed more boys in high school and not so many after the fact.

2. What kind of car did you drive?
Her name was Essie. Short for the S.V. or Sex Van. I drove a big-ass 15 passenger Dodge van with no backseats, only blankets and pillows and garbage and old homework. The front seat wasn't all the way screwed down so I always had to put my arm across to keep the things or people in the seat from flying through the windshield. Once we were eating lunch in the back of it and Mr. Sweat, the VP came by and semi-joined us.

3. What was the most embarrassing moment of High School for you?
I think that shame was something I reserved for after high school. I did a lot of things I am mortified about now, but didn't think twice about then. Who remembers me wearing a red cape w/ a J on it during freshman year? I think a lot of people have blocked it out, but it haunts me every time I see a magician.

4. Were you a party animal? Not in the sex drugs and rockandroll sense. We had our share of good times, though. We never lacked for something to do on the weekend.

5. Were you considered a flirt? Ha. no. See question 1.

6. Were you in Band, Orchestra, or Choir? Oh yes. Every year. I still talk to my high school choir teacher in fact. And, I'm pretty sure our Junior year trip to Vancouver was possibly one of the funnest trips of my life. (I know for a fact I've never laughed as hard as I did on some of those nights, me laughing at Duke, laughing at me...)
7. Were you a nerd? I don't think people thought of me as one (or maybe they did, I'm a little clueless about others perceptions of me) but I thought I was pretty cool, and no one told me otherwise. If you look back on all the clubs and crap I was part of, you might think I was, though.

8. Were you on any Varsity teams? #2 singles--Varsity Tennis. Still cracks me up. Never won a match.

9. Did you ever get suspended/expelled? Not this little sweetheart. I was Ms. Freaking Wasatch High School. (well, "co-ms. wasatch high school w/ Keysha). I still occasionally wear my locket that lovingly holds a picture of Mrs. Gappmeyer, the principal. Yeah, I guess I was/am a nerd.

10. Can you still sing the fight song?
I can sing the fight song AND the school song both with 100 percent accuracy. That's what you get for having Ms. Carlile for 3 years straight. She made you sing them every single day of Homecoming Week.

11. Who were your favorite teachers? Ms. Belnap, for sure. Mr. Carr. Mr. McInelly. Ms. Turnblom. I got along with all of them, really.

12. Where did you sit during lunch? In the Commons Area or @ Taco Time.

13. What was your school's full name? Wasatch High School: Home of the Wasps.

14. School mascot? A wasp. I spent one football game in the mascot uniform. It was hellish.

15. Did you go to Homecoming? With who? I went to Senior year Homecoming with Roger Pearson. I can't remember if I went Junior year or not. I didn't go to Jr. Prom though, so I never had that tortuous moment of dancing in front of strangers. Sr. Prom I went w/ Cache. It was ridiculously fun. I swayed back and forth making googly eyes at the Bass Player.

16. If you could go back and do it again, would you? No, but only because I have such fond memories, and I don't think I could get that experience back if I tried.

17. What do you remember most about graduation? Crying like a baby. The regrettable make-out of the night before. Feeling like my world was falling apart.

18. Where did you go Senior Skip Day? Lagoon. I had a blast.

19. Were you in any clubs? Japanese Club, FBLA, National Honors Society, Varsity Club, Show Choir, BYI (Big Youth International!) so many more, I can't remember. I was named class clown though...surprised?

20. Have you gained some weight since then? Way too damn much. Probably like a whole Holly Hult.

21. Who was your Prom Date? Oh, I guess I already answered this one. Cache.

22. 10 year Reunion? Of course. So many people I've lost touch with and miss dearly.

23. Looking back, what advice would you give yourself? Not any, really. I think I did pretty alright for myself. My college self, now she could do with some advice...

Any other Wasps want to play?

I enjoyed this post, mostly because I was there for all of it, but still seem to have forgoten enough for this post to still be real interesting to me. They were good times, but how great it is that we have shared good times since as well. Everyone deserves the kind of teenage years we had.

Great post! I just attended my 10 year reunion and was quite nervous about everyone seeing the "fat Nat" but I was actually looking pretty good compared to everyone else there! :) that made me happy.

Good to have you back. I don't know that I could have dealt with a wasp mascot--I'm so bug averse. But then again, I didn't really relate to a shirtless Warrior, in blue and orange, no less. Anyway, glad you still love us here at blogspot.

I think reinstating the cape would be awesome.

I like the high school posts. It makes me realize how much I really do miss hanging out with everyone when that was all we did was hang out and think of stupid stuff to do. But that is what made it so fun. We really did have a great group.

Wow, that sure was nostalgic for me!! You can remember so much from High School, I can't believe it. They were good times, but when I go back to think about specifics, I can barely remember anything besides the "feel" of how those days were. Thanks for sharing some of your memories with me!

Ahh...those were the days! I am so glad to have found your blog, and even more happy that you post such good memories. Remember how you are still one of the funniest people I have ever met? And remember when you and Kristina and me would play the piano and sing? We ought to go on tour.

Yay! You did the high school post! I laughed out loud about gaining a whole Holly Hult. And I actually remember the cape, now that you mention it...
